THE STORY OF THE INTERGALACTIC
BUSKERS.

You don't need anyone's permission to be a busker (street musician).
It's your right to play anywhere in the Known Universe, as long as you
don't frighten the horses or wake up the babies. Don't let anyone tell
you anything different!

There are lots of guides about, everybody's at it, it seems. 'Lonely Planet',
'Hitch-Hiker's Guide to The World/Europe etc', 'Rough Guide', 'Let's Go' etc...

Nothing for buskers and street musicians though, as far as I knew!

I've been a Travelling Troubadour for 26yrs and experienced the reality
of survival on the road without a credit card or financial support from
rich relatives (I have the greatest admiration for those travellers I've
met over the years who're not buskers but manage to survive without
begging, stealing, dealing or...!).

I've always had it in the back of my mind to write a book "The Busker's
Guide To The Galaxy", for would-be buskers who want to live the dream
of complete freedom, to travel/play/live/love/die On the road .I never
got started - too busy surviving!A shame to waste all that experience,
knowledge and know-how.

What finally pushed me over the edge and gave me the impetus to start
the websitewas the utter fiasco of the scheme to Legalise busking on the
London Underground.

Over one year later (Sept 04) and I'm still too angry to talk about it (It's
now 2006 - and I feel the same)!
I tried to get the buskers to organize against this abomination, starting
out with emails and newsletters.

You can imagine the response I got! Everyone was quite happy to moan
about injustices, but not prepared to do any work or stick their heads
above the trench.I thought a website might help.

By this time, I was so pissed off with the apathy of most of the London
buskers that I decided to make the website for the buskers of the world
and let London takecare of itself (they'll wake up eventually - probably
when its too late and there're nothing but drama students, Karaoke singers,
Didgeridoos, Djembes and Escalator creatures on the underground and you
can only get one good pitch a week - if that!
It's a bit like that at the moment actually).

Ps. many thanks to http://www.jayde.com/  and www.yahoo.com
for putting meon their Search Engines and rescuing me from amongst
the "Dark Matter" of Cyberspace. As in the "real universe", 90% of the
matter is hidden and undetectable, so it is on the Web.

There's a lot of good stuff out there, but due to the inexperience of
amateur Webmasters such as myself, who don't know anything about
Meta tags and search engines and are not ableto pay thousands to
professionals - it never gets found!
